Retraction is an important category for the sciences which, at present, are reflecting on life; among these Bioethics addressed from theology, especially the one with Augustinian inspiration. After presenting the theoretical elements that identify and found the need to retract, some paradigmatic cases are analyzed to notice the possibility of retracts by theology and Magisterium throughout history. The article concludes by pointing out the importance and requirement of further deepening in the question and developing instruments to promote this attitude which denotes the ethical honesty and commitment to truth. It concerns the reflection “in the light of the Gospel and of human experience” in scientific areas whose limits are unstable, due to both the evolution and constant progress of knowledge and complex and urgent circumstances.
