Epictetus is a thinker of the late Stoic school, the so-called Roman Stoicism, and lived from the year 50 to 135. His thought is characterized by great theological imprint, since he constantly refers to God as the foundation of his philosophy. Although Epictetus is faithful to the stoic materialistic tradition, in many of the references to God, although he does not break with classical thought, he stands out for giving a personalistic touch to God, which is very close to Christianity. After a brief review of his life and philosophical influences, we present his theological thought focusing above all on his Dissertations, and we can conclude by saying that Epictetus, more than any other Stoic, could apply the title of theologian, since the reference to the divine is central to his philosophy.
