Abstract

The first part of this article, already published, dealt with issues of Ecclesiam Suam surfaced since Pope Montini’s life-time. His contemplation and reflections resulted in the forceful expression of his priestly and episcopal ministry. This second part discusses how the letter inspires the pastoral practice at the beginning of his pontificate. The article focuses on the letter, his periconciliar Speeches and on the use made of it by the conciliar texts. An upcoming third part will deal with how Ecclesiam Suam persists in the pastoral praxis of Paul VI, what echo it had on succeeding documents and how the transfiguration has weaved it into existence.
