In this research the author study some paintings of the artists Simón Flores (1839-1904) and Fabián de la Rosa (1869-1937) that in the Philippine art are considered just below Juan Luna and Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, the best painters of the country. After a presentation of the life and painting of Simón Flores, are described his graphic designs that appear in the magazine “La Ilustración Filipina”. A big novelty is the study of the four oil paintings of this artist that exist in the Museo Oriental. Conclude with an evaluation of his art. Heir of the pictorial tradition of Simón Flores de la Rosa is his nephew Fabián de la Rosa Cueto. First is presented his life and artistic works. Later on will be seen his cooperation with the magazine “Excelsior” and his painting and designs that appear there. Next is the study of one oil painting of this artist that exist in the Museo Oriental, and some opinions about his art. The text is completed with 53 colour photos of the works.
