The research is divided in four parts. In the first one is presented the life of the Filipino artist Félix Martínez y Lorenzo (1859-c. 1916) and his artistic works as painter of portraits, landscapes and genre views, some of them never studied before. In the second part are studied the designs published between 1893-1895 in La Ilustración Filipina, where the painter was the main illustrator. From the 79 works quoted, 58 are described in detail, and of 41 of them is offer also a photographic reproduction. In the third part is presented the oil painting of Fr. Andrés de Urdaneta, the augustinian that found the “tornaviaje” or way back from Manila to México in 1565. This work exhibited at the entrance of Museo Oriental, in Valladolid, is considered today the work of a Filipino painter, and can be attributed to Félix Martínez. Finally is added the bibliography used, and the indexes. The text is completed with 62 colour illustrations.
