Abstract

Rural “Preceptorias” (prívate schoolings), precursors of Minor Seminary in the Matritense Augustinian Province during the first twenty years on the twenty century. Preceptory signify, extraofficial school, with officious and private teaching of latinity and other fundamental disciplines of letters and sciencies for accessing to the superior studies. Preceptor, alias Domine, is the parish priest, priest or layman founder and schoolmaster of his foundation. Various accademical meanings of preceptor in the Spain history. In this inedited investigation there are, at least, seventeen rural Preceptories at Castilla la Vieja in the north of Madrid connected with the quoted Aungustinian Province.
