The Saint Augustin s priory in Azpeitia, Guipúzcoa, was one
of the fundations of the Order in the Basque Country. This religious house belonged to the Agustinian Province of Castilla until its closured, carried out during the Regency of General Espartero. Its geographical location and the strong presence of the Carlist side during the dispute that arose after the death of Ferdinand VII due to the dispute over the throne, meant that its confiscation and suppression did not begin until the end of the first conflict, from 1840.
