Abstract

This article is the second book of professions of the convent of Zaragoza (1618-1650). The books of religious professions are a documentary source of first order for the knowledge of the human, cultural and social characteristics of the members of a religious province. Over seven consecutive works will be presented to each of the books of professions that are preserved in the convent San Agustín de Zaragoza (1605-1834; except the seventh book, 1730-1799, to find lost) and the basic data of the friars: name and surnames, name of his parents, place of origin or birth, parish of baptism, date of religious profession, name of the prior (or subprior) of the convent, who was the master of novices, and even if it were the case, the notary of the town that gave faith the fact of the profession.At the same time, the proceedings of profession offer other details of no less importance to the multifaceted work of the historian in his effort to advance the knowledge of the past.
